AI for creating educational materials for school and pre-school education

The main goal of the course is to help pre-school and schoolteachers in creating a holistic approach to support the development of their pupils by creating multimedia and web-based objects and using AI. The key word for our course is “interaction”. The course will present how to use AI, understanding AI Basics for educators, and an overview of AI Tools for Teachers and how to use AI to create interactive multimedia materials. The suggested approaches on the course are regarding the Education 2030 Agenda.

Description

The course is designed as an interactive process. The format of the course is didactic, experiential, and interactive, along with discussions, individual and team exercises. The focus is on experiential learning and workshop approaches, lectures, and group discussions. One of the delivery methods during the course is the simulation of real lessons. The simulations will be accompanied by discussions on different scenarios of delivering the training sessions suggested by the participants. The course is designed in a way that offers preschool and schoolteachers several beneficial activities for their professional development in the fields of ICT, AI and multimedia creation. Sharing: Participants share experiences and expertise on the topic and learn from each other. Collaborative workshops: Working in groups on a learning scenario, pedagogical situation plans, and other learning resources.
We are committed to Erasmus Quality Standards and comply with the basic principles of the Erasmus Quality Standards. Participating organizations are also expected to comply with the basic principles when planning project activities.

Duration of the course - 7 days.
Fee for tuition and materials: 560 euro.
(This is covered with the course fee that you get with your grant: 80 euro per day).

Course Details and program
The standard program comprises 7 days. The first day is dedicated to getting to know each other by learning icebreaker activities, to the course topic introduction, hands-on activity on login to the course online classroom. The last day is about follow up, individual consultations – instructions on how to implement the suggested training with pupils, how to seek and receive support from mentors and at the end certificates ceremony. Participants are expected to arrive one day before the start of the course and leave one day after the end. The host organization will also organize:
• visit to a local school/kindergarten in Antalya to explore the good practices of education in Turkiye.

Day 1: Introduction to AI in Education

16:00 - 16:30: Keynote: The Role of AI in Modern Education. Overview of AI tools for creating educational materials. Benefits and challenges of AI in early education.
16:30 - 17:00 Coffee break
17:00: Hands-on activity in the Google Classroom. The participants introduce themselves online. Creating mixed transnational groups with ICT tools.

Day 2: AI Tools for Creating EduMaterials
10:30 Introduction to the course, presentation of participants’ organisations.
11:00: Workshop: "Overview of AI Tools for Teachers"(AI platforms for generating lesson plans, worksheets, and games).
11:30 - 12:30: Hands-On Session: "Designing Materials with AI" - Step-by-step guide to using AI for content creation
12:30 - 14:00: Lunch Break
14:00 - 15:00: Personalizing Educational Materials with AI - Tailoring resources to different learning styles and ages
15:00 - 15:30: Coffee Break
15:30 Outdoor practical activity: Taking photos and videos that will be modified later with AI tools. (The activity will take place in Ancient Antalya)

Day 3: AI for Visual and Interactive Materials
10:30: Hands-On Session: "Developing Interactive Learning Activities". AI-powered games, quizzes, and storyboards - Kahoot! with AI question generator; Quizizz – supports AI-assisted question creation and gamified quizzes; AI generate story scripts and visuals collaboratively

14:00: "The Importance of Visuals in Education. Designing AI-Driven Visuals for Lessons.” How visuals enhance learning in schools and kindergartens. AI tools.
15:00: Hands-On Session: "Creating Visual Content with AI" - Generating images/videos. AI tools for generating photos / videos (including real ones).

Day 4: AI and Multilingual Education
10:30: Using AI for Multilingual Classrooms. Tools for language translation and support.
11:00 - 12:30: Hands-on Session: "Creating Multilingual Educational Materials". Adapting materials for diverse linguistic needs. Microsoft Translator Real-time multilingual conversation support, Use Microsoft Translator to give live translated captions.
12:30: Lunch at the hotel
14:00 - 15:30: Hands-on Session: Text-to-Speech (TTS) + Speech Recognition Tools.

16:00: Brainstorming Session: "Developing Multilingual Projects with AI"

Day 5: Ethics and Accessibility in AI
9:00 Outdoor activity – Turkish school/kindergarten visit. Learn about the educational system and implementation of interactive and multimedia materials in teaching and AI in Turkish schools.

14:00 Lecture: "Ethical Considerations in AI for Education". Addressing data privacy, bias, and inclusivity
14:30: Discussion: "AI for Special Educational Needs in Schools and Kindergartens". Tools and strategies for inclusivity

Day 6: Collaborative Projects with AI
10:30 - 11:00: Workshop: Using AI to create Educational Group Projects. Encouraging collaboration and creativity with AI tools.
11:00 - 12:30: Hands-On Session: Participants work in groups.
Group 1- writes a poem, one illustrates it, another narrates it with AI-generated voice.
Group 2- International participants co-create digital magazines. They use AI to translate, Canva to design, and AI to visualize articles.
Group 3- AI helps plan a virtual exhibition: each school uploads content, AI organizes and visualizes it.

Day 7: Presentation, Networking, Certification
10:00: Workshop: Preparing AI-Enhanced Educational Materials for Sharing. Finalizing and refining created materials.
11:00 - 12:30: Presentation: "Showcasing Group Projects and Feedback". Networking: "Building a Community of AI Innovators in Education" Sharing ideas and planning future collaborations
12:30 - 14:00: Lunch Break
14:00 - 14:30: Reflection on the course. Planning follow up activities, dissemination, and implementation of learning outcomes. Europass Mobility certificates – discussion of knowledge gained, and skills acquired. Discussing possibilities for future cooperation among participants

Notes:
Participants are required to bring their own laptops.
The outdoor workshop and the visit to a local school or kindergarten involve an additional fee per participant.
Optionally, one evening may include a group visit to the Land of Legends night show (no entrance fee), depending on participants' interest. A shared transfer will be arranged, and each participant will cover their own transportation cost.

Learning objectives

  • • Participants will explore AI tools that support learning across different contexts. They will gain practical skills in using technology to enhance communication and cultural understanding in multiple languages by using AI
  • • Participants will develop adaptive learning strategies using AI technologies. They will enhance their ability to collaborate, reflect on technological innovations, and continuously improve their teaching methodologies.
  • • Participants will develop an ethical approach to using AI in education, addressing considerations of bias, accessibility, and inclusivity. They will learn to use technology responsibly to support inclusive and equitable learning.

The course is designed in a way that offers pre-school and schoolteachers several beneficial activities for their professional development in the fields of ICT, AI and multimedia creation. Sharing: Participants share experiences and expertise on the topic and learn from each other. Collaborative workshops: Working in groups on a learning scenario, pedagogical situation plans, and other learning resources to be used in the own kindergarten. The training team is multinational, who have participated in the design of the educational materials and previous teacher training sessions within Erasmus+ KA1 and KA2 projects.
